2.46AM and sleepless

i shouldn't be here, sitting in front of my computer at such ungodly hours. but i simply can't sleep. so i thought it'll be nice to add some memories to my virtual space here. :):)

my recent sleepless night was spent on drawing tiny little circles. not sure, if these photos would do my tiny circles justice. but my random circles made its form as tree with a little note in the middle, if you can spot it!

bought some tubes of postal color paint, and a couple of new brushes. having this strong urge to play with watercolor.

but im kind of rusty with paint now. the last time i ever touched paint and brushes was at least 5 years ago. probably 'cos i was young and lazy back then to bother clean up my space and wash my brushes. so it might take awhile before i have something decent enough to put up.

patience and time.

ps: oopps forgot to add that i've got a camera now! hence, the photos appearing. shawn and i swooped cameras. he is still using my slr for his upcoming projects. you should check out his recently done stuff for KULT magazine on his weblog! it's not complete, still in the process of completion. but it's still worth a second. :)
visit shawn's weblog here!

3 cheers for shawn and all his stuff!

(can bearly wait for him to take me to my favorite japanese bbq spot tucked away at a secret location on my birthday when all his pay rolls in ^-^ *yum*)

airmax1 indeed

guess what i picked up at the nearby nike outlet store?

put on some dramatic music please...
and then scroll down somemore...

pair of nike airmax1. at an unimaginable price of... $69.90. not sharing the spot though 'cos im such a selfish person (no, im kidding. but if u asked i'd share it with you *smile*). anyways, i didn't have enough cash on me to pay for it , nor did i bring my NETS card 'cos im trying to put myself on a strict budget. so here comes another more unimaginable part. my boyfriend, shawn decides to get it for me. *louder dramatic sound please*.

okay lah. but i did give him back a small token sum in return for the airmax. 'cos it didn't seem like a good gesture to buy your love one a pair of footwear. it's believed to be telling the other to go hunt for white deer's meat (or you could crudely say "f&%k off"). anyway, what the heck. i still got a pair of awesome airmax. got to admit, this is the first ever nike street i have ever owned. simply because the arch support seem to feel so strangely uncomfortable.. but not till i tried on another size bigger. though the size is alittle bigger, my arch can finally find a nice resting spot & i can now proudly exclaim my ownership of a pair of sweet sweet airmax1. though it's not really a rare find, but come on it's quite a start. and i got it at an unbeatable price for an authentic airmax. all the more reasons to smile. :)

thanks shawn! :)

PHHHIIAAATTTTTT-PHATTTT-PHAAATttttttt...

i think i contain too much shyness and keep underestimating myself far too much. so much that i make myself sound like a deflated balloon, especially the part where the air is just about to run out completely. the part where the rubber deflating balloon goes "PHHHIIAAATTTTTT-PHATTTT-PHAAATttttttt..." until it eventually dies out.

goodness.

*clap clap* come on, lilia, buck up and quit feeling like a lousy deflated rubber balloon!

"world economies recovering"

my home orders the daily papers, but i hardly ever venture into other sections other than the life section. but it so happened that the front page caught my eye, it states as my subject title mentioned "world economies recovering". well, i don't mean to sound like a pessimistic and skeptical wet blanket, but am i actually witnessing an actual account of the world economy getting back on its feet or another attempt at injecting positivity into the citizens of singapore? pardon me for being a skeptic. but reality is pretty hard these days for alot of people.

well i wont want to be waiting any longer for brighter days. so i think i might sell my soul to the local bookstore, re-arranging books day and night. at least they are paying me more peanuts than what i'm going to get and getting.

quite typical a day

and then it's pouring again!

it's been pouring alot lately, and getting pretty hot and sunny during intervals. the perfect concoction for a flu.

i met michelle today. we haven't seen one another since my birthday last december. she brought along a gift she got me during her hongkongfilmmarket-trip which was months ago, and the gift was on the verge of breeding mold. she got me a domokun coin purse, simply 'cos the creature carried some sort of resemblance of me. i picked up something typical of me; silly yet functional, a dog shaped door-stopper at the handi-fix store. we had so much catching up to do, and more of how singapore is such a small world, that this person is that persons ex-SO. or this that person was our media faculty's alumni and all that whack. but our miserable conclusion of the whole chitchat was that our job prospect seem so miserable and sad. michelle plans to head overseas upon her chapman uni graduation. while here i am, still struggling with what i wish to further studies in, and to weigh if the degree would be worth while of the money and time invested. what a headache.

monday

im having a go at patterns, with pencil on graph paper and then move it into illustrator. no camera for now, so i guess photos will be running short for this period.

i was just reading this On to Plan B: Starting a Business (nytimes.com). it kind of got me more enthusiastic about putting more effort into the shirt-making thing shawn and i have been planning to do. but was putting it on hold 'cos we lacked the capital. perhaps, i should look harder to seek capital and funding for this matter. hope that would be inspiring for other fellow aspiring entrepreneurs out there hoping to get a piece of the consumer pie.

one weekend of suck

my eye got alittle swollen over the weekend. seems like there's this tiny little pimple trying to pop up under me eyelid. morbid as it sounds, this tiny little pimple is causing some discomfort and a bit of a bruise and swell on my upper eyelid. i look like a half panda with a droopy eyelid. but it seems like its subsiding...

anyways. was helping shawn out with one his works. he needed help cutting out paper stuff for a fantasy paper world. but midway, i got pretty sick due to dehydration and puked me guts out.

and just last night my stomach hurt so z^#* bad. wind in my weak stomach. couldn't get much sleep.

weekend of suck.

more suck especially when im out of cameras; my dslr is with shawn who needs it for his work for probably a long time, and the compact camera which my sister and i were sharing broke down on us. im only left with faithful old holga, which runs on film. i guess i can't share my tentacle-drawing till i see an available scanner within my reach.

can't wait to see how the shawn's stuff for zouk is going to turn out for print. it's pretty exciting. so watch out for it!

IF THE KIDS ARE UNITED

warcraft before, starcraft again

crazy as the whole title thing may sound, and that i can be a fan of cook and bake and all that wacky cute stuff, im actually a fan of starcraft back in my younger days. *dramatic music* ANYWAY,

blizzard once again pleases all starcraft fanatics with its soon to release starcraft II! and hell yeah this avid zerg fan here is heck-o-excited! i just checked out its recent cinematic game trailer, and its so bloody FANTASTIC! (trailer found here). now that queen Kerrigan and her Zerg forces are done with the terran dominion, they're moving up to invade the homeland of the protosses... so psyched up! 'cos there's bond to be a heck of a gameplay once again. moving over to the new stuff SC2 has, it seems like the protoss and terran race have sharpened up their weapons, and has got quite abit of impressive new units tossed in. so seems like i might be shifting sides now. tsk. nonetheless, its still got some time more to go before the game gets released (first half of 2010). so i still do have time on hand to switch sides again. (fickle, indeed)

can't wait!

Starcraft II's offical site.

scorched eggs on a bloated afternoon

my god, the sun is BLISTERING! and its scorching out there, so much that i can fry an egg on the pavement outside.

anyway. its 3pm in the afternoon. abit of gas in me stomach that's making me feel bloated and queasy, must have eaten too fast during lunch. can't quite put it anything together to form anything constructive, so i guess i might wanna sort out my stuff in my comp and on my site (managed to make some html work, so i can hook up my site to here. quite a start). perhaps, remove one of the categories on my site which i feel the world can see less of...

marvelous marble house by the knife, on loop for the past one hour.

flat dry and out

it is 12.43am and i am TIRED. but i have far too much to complain. firstly, whatthefuck am i doing with my life man? it's getting so fucking typical mundane and boring! pffft. i sold my bass guitar. i sold my dj stuff. and i never found enough spare cash to prioritize for my decks again. its so sad. i guess my life is left flat out and dry, till i strike lottery or whatever. :(

and my hair. my fucking hair. it so long that it can never get any longer than this. its at its peak. my hair has never got this long in my past 5year record. the little pixie haircut i had since january has grown into an untamed hair flood. hair flood is exaggeration. but i hate carrying a head on my neck that has hair so long its touching my shoulders. i hate it. im tolerating it. but not able to tolerate it any longer.

(considering to this old hairstyle of mine which isn't too bad. i could still use my clay i have remaining. it's still moist and usable, so it shouldn't go to waste. moreover, its pretty expensive for clay. think 30odd for a tube of silly hair clay.)

long hair, no go.
short hair, here to stay.
planning my hair-cutting trip sometime very soon.
(unless my boyfriend finds out about this, and brainwashes me mid-way not to strip off my hair).

other than that, over and out jalapenos!

hello monday

gosh, my blogspot's interface still isn't loading properly! not sure if it's a browser issue or a blogspot issue. but i'm feeling quite lazy to rectify it, 'cos i don't quite see it anywhere on my priority list, as long as i get to write and publish my whiny entries i'm good to go. lol. anyway,...

the national day rally was yesterday. like most eager Singaporeans, i caught it. but half of it before i started to dose off. not our minister's fault. but, seriously, talks get pretty boring after 45mins. i sat eagerly through the first half, watching our minister commute in english followed by melayu. but when it got to mandarin, my attention span expired. perhaps, when i reach the ripe age of 30 i might then be able to sit through the whole session, with a huge mug of coffee, chips, coke, fries, everything, the works to keep my mouth moving to stay awake.

it's monday, and sigur ros seems to be helping me cope with the monday blues and my slightly sluggish mood from bad sleep last night. tea is keeping me up and moving. cutting sluggish by half. so that's not to bad for productivity.

okay, back to more rapid mouse clicking and instant shortcut-key-recalling in photoshop.

adios!

wednesday

been having trouble sleeping at night as usual, and having terribly awful dreams of getting stabbed, possibly to death. it's been going on for some time now.
as usual, i had an awful dream last night, stabbed in the back and shocking myself out of my sleep. jumping up, gasping for air, and feeling my back to tell myself it's just a dream.
i feel distorted. such terrible a feeling to have when sleep is now dreadful instead of pleasurable.

not excited. not feeling happy at all at the moment.
and it certainly doesnt sound like the sort of pleasant experience and story you would like to share with.

so with weary bloodshot eyes, i'll figure myself a way out.

"part of the weekend never dies"

weekend was pretty awesome. part from the national day parade going on, it was also party weekend. ice cold beer, with sausages, sand in feet and being surrounded by crazy party people running into freezing cold sea water in the middle of the night.

here's some people quite tame enough to sit down for a photo.

sparklers for the birthday girl on a National Day.

a strange looking possessed rabbit.

boyfriend with his first beer in months, and there's sand in his beer.

here's me, with my first beer in months too.

more photos when i process my roll of film in my holga.

cheers!

wednesday

once again its wednesday. but, here comes WEDNESDAY, the clothes washing cat to help you out.

being part of grouchy wednesday, i decided to cut grouch mood by half and increase productivity mood by a quarter. how? by milking soybeans. indeed, i plan to make some soybean milk tonight. hows that for wednesday? when almost everyone on my land is having mambo jambo dancing sessions at zouk, here i am milking and brewing soybeans.

lychee martini for the weekend

i finally had my first lychee martini in months, that was from winebar. it was scrumptious. goodness. was over at zouk today checking out flea&easy, and realised i have always been visiting fleas in tshirts and shorts and birks/ flip flops; dressing to the possibly-crazily crowded and warm vibe. instead, every single time i am vising the flea market over at zouk, i see kids cladded in their best suits/ oufits. and these people just park themselves around the facility. not shopping not nothing. pehaps, they look just too fucking good to be digging through other man's second hands/ thrash. cut the perhaps. they really look too good and snotty to be bloody buying second hands. so why be bloody there in the first place, and be ordering a cup of fizzy juice? not there to be flea-ing. not there to be drinking. what could they possibly be doing there? broad-daylight pickups, i guess.

nonetheless, todays flea was quite a disappointment. hardly had any good find for being there at 5pm in the afternoon. ended up having a beef burger(that everyone claims tastes like ramli burger) from shawn's colleague's mom who had a stall there, not forgetting my delicious martini.

i was supposed to have photos. but i left my camera in shawn's glove box.

apart from flea-marketting, i paid House@Dempsey a visit last friday. there was an event. shawn was cordinally invited to his colleagues party, TRUSTFUN x BLACKMARKET = THE NEW BLACK. had some drinks on the house before visiting Jones the Grocer, which we managed to pick up something sweet for a party next weekend.

alright, enough of ranting, complains and blah blah... 9 minutes to midnight.
i hope your weekend was equally as rad.
