Gothenburg!
this is amazingly cute as Gotheburg, a city in Sweden, tries to promote bike riding amongst their citizens.
***
been doing a little kite research with shawn. trying to find some kite dealers or makers here in sunny Singapore for our kite flying trips. made some enquires, but sadly none are replying so far.
you know, i might just end up making ourselves a DIY one with sticks and tracing paper. though it won't be flying high, it'll still be a nice experience just watching it ride the winds up there in the sky...

sunday
shawn had big plans for a sunday. he wanted to take me kite flying. the last i could remember of my previous kite flying "expedition" was with my dad as a toddler. it was a rough one, falling down, getting my knees scrapped and finally getting dragged away by the wind because my feet got tangled up with the kite strings. miserable. that was my last kite flying trip. about 2 decades later, shawn tried his best but couldn't find a kite to fly. i guess for now my only memory of kit flying would be getting dragged of by the wind. lol!

friday evening
it's a friday again. strangely i don't quite feel like its a friday. feels more like any other day. i was looking, so much, forward to friday evening last night. but when it finally got here, it became empty. :(
maybe i should go for a jog? burn a bit more fat, feel healthier. or maybe find something good to eat, which i have been having really major difficulty at doing. my appetite comes and goes. it goes more often than it comes. for a someone who is just 5 feet tall, i'm weighing barely 85pounds (yet, i still see this little piece of fat strapped on to my belly. wth, right?). i have bad appetite. or just no appetite at all. sounds really unhealthy. haven't seen anything very appetizing. i guess that's going to be a challenge to pack back some pounds. Lol!
so i'm afraid running might not be a very good alternative to spending my friday night. i should probably learn to whip up something appetizing and very healthy to eat. or at the very least find a good way to be healthy. malnourished people look unattractive. wait, yet at the same time i don't wish to be looking fat. which isn't very nice for me. the least a girl like me now needs is to look, in anyway, at all ugly. so i should be looking for ways to gain some weigh, look very healthy and not be in anyway carrying a single pound of fat! okay, now friday evening sounds appetizing once again. :)
happy friday!

a dedication to...
... the smaller people in our lives.
that's my dedication.
for the people who always put you down perhaps? or the people who despised you? or the people you were always there for when they needed someone, but never ever came to your rescue? the people who never saw anything in you? or the people who gave you up only to realized they were wrong, that you were of more use to them afterall? or the people whom you love and least expected, who say the most hurtful things, words and insults to you. what are your kinds of small people? i guess those are just a handful of my small people. because every time you put your guards down, everyone comes to gorge your soul out. and that really sucks.

36 Skaters Make Downhill Neon Video Game
this is pretty awesome. skateboarding crew, Crew of Freeborders, decides to remake the whole tetris video with skateboards and replace tetris boards with neon light sticks. all these done on the streets of SF. beats the old tetris hands down! enjoy!
STRETCHMARKS!
as usual going through my list of websites, and i stumbled upon this.

STRETCHMARKS by an Indian artist, Rohit Iyer. His illustrations are quite adorable, made out of simple black and white doodles. Am visualizing 'em looking really cute as framed art pieces hanging on walls.
do check out more his stuffs here!
ps. and its 23rd September! shawn and i have officially spent 4 years together! :) we've come a long way haven't we?

hello! apologies for neglecting my blog for sometime. been busy reading a couple of books i borrowed from the national library. borrowed 4, and im still quite tempted to borrow more, which i'm not sure if i can. i recall the local library having a reading campaign previously, promoting readers to pick-up up to 6 book loans at one time. i wonder if it's still going on...
anyways, found some cool stuff. such as:
♥ an adorable Japanese ad for goggle from Youtube (here)
♥ crazily amazing interview by Oprah, Whitney breaking her many years silence. am truly amazed by her fighting spirit, courage and strength (here)
♥ a beautiful stop motion video of Nike's IAM1Journey of Amsterdam (here)
♥ partly cloudy, a really cute video by Pixar (here)
♥ plus, i think fujita minako makes truly beautiful illustrations, loving everything on her site (here)

we need a ticket out of here.

right now
i feel like buying tons of beads and sequins and start sewing fancy patterns on silk scarfs. that's what i really feel like doing right now...
time for some tuesday on a wednesday
found a couple of nice stuffs off my feeds.
♥ this being one, image to definitely bring smiles for upcoming wednesday (image above). Squirrel Portrait, Banff
"My husband and I were exploring Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park-Canada when we stopped for a timed picture of the two of us. We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intriqued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot! A once in a lifetime moment! We were laughing about this little guy for days!!"
♥ check out Biennale de Lyon 2009 Teaser Video on daily motion. really awesome. do visit biennale de lyon 2009's official site while at it.
♥ lastly, starbucks! who doesn't love the aromatic smell of coffee? What goes into making a Starbucks coffee?
headed to the the nearby cold storage supermarket just around my house with my sister to pick up some grocery in the evening. the weather is quite smokey around my area due to many of the residents burning offerings for the hungry ghost festival. making the air smell strangely very nostalgic.
anyway, happy wednesday!

CNN: Just Imagine: City visions
"we will have to take brave steps. but if we can only make that leap, the future could be here sooner than we can imagine."
Ross Lovegrove.
this video is just simply so inspirational. for a cleaner, greener, friendlier society.

one monday, grande please.
today is a heck of a hot weather. and here i am still wearing a long sleeve button shirt with jeans, with an inner cami. i practically cooked myself through and well the whole day.
picked up a pack of plain inner tees from muji for dear old shawn, hoping he can dump his itchy old singlets which he has been clinging on to since he passed out of his 2 years mandatory national service. XL. nothing wrong with what you're seeing. shawn is a pretty beefy cow. haha.
shawn got me a badge from a friend of his, KillKill, who makes really adorable illustrations. seen here is dodo papa. haha. its supposed to be her character dodo's dad. dodo papa, apparently got too fat to have any legs. which is really hilarious. you can find more of her badges, here. it's for sale, which she would be very glad to get emails order. all badges are handmade by KillKill, making it come in limited quantities. honored to have one in my collection. :D
happened to stumble across TheShinySquirrel, who has a lovely bunch of badges up for sale!! (here) they look so adorable, on hoodies, cardigans, jackets, plain tees and such. the price is a bit hefty, but still worth checking out and putting it on your want list. :D

Augmented Sand Sculpture
thought i might share something nice on a friday :)
"Last Friday was the official start of the construction of the new Dutch Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. The new building was designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects and will be ready by the end of 2011. To celebrate this event, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam and Theo Watson developed an augmented sand sculpture. It’s a 5 by 6 meters large scale model of the new building made with a material available at the construction site … sand."
from it's nice that & todayandtomorrow.

uniqlo finally!
i used to post often about what i am wearing in my old blog, but i kinda got busy and stopped doing that. perhaps i should pick up that habit again, could be useful in future if i wanted to know what i was wearing back then. i could then laugh at some of my fashion catastrophes (which i hope that never happens).
im wearing a korea imported gray asymmetrical tunic top, carrying a beige canvas market bag which shawn got for me (and was too reluctant to put it through my daily rough usage till now), my favorite brown leather gap belt (which sadly can't be seen. real leather is awesome, it molds into your personality. its been with me for 3yrs, worth every cent of that 89$ i spent on it 'cos its such a timeless piece), and my skinny jeans from mango.
i visited Uniqlo! finally. :D i was hoping the crowd would die down after a month since it opened its doors at Singapore's orchard ion. but i was wrong... :( nonetheless, it was a great visit. its like my monochrome paradise! things in many shades of the monochrome palette. one more place to stock up my boring wardrobe. and mind you im picky with the colors i wear, very unlike me when im painting or coloring a picture. i was telling shawn last night that if only i transferred the colors i used in photoshop and illustrator, my wardrobe will be a heck load way more colorful than its current state: black, shades of gray, whites and more blacks, with a hint of floral.
anyways, i meant to post this yesterday. cos that's what i wore yesterday, and that's what i bought yesterday. but this post ended up sitting in my draft box all night.
that's all i got to share for now about myself. till another time :D

tuesday morning
i got up early today. couldn't get much sleep last night anyway. picked up my scissors and started snipping away some part of my fringe. i cut my hair whenever im upset. strange behavior, indeed. anyways, a couple of really cool videos i got off the web.
it's a music video for Ólafur Arnalds, directed by Esteban Diácono, which i think looks so damn magical for such a captivating song.
and then this, TokyoLife. featuring 2 of Japan’s respected flatland BMX riders, Hiroshi Uehara and Kotaro Tanaka. its just awesome. love the visuals and the cuts. most importantly, i love tokyo. shot by doron dor with help from James Lisle.

my weekend, like every other weekend is pretty quiet and cosy. i rarely ever step into shopping malls and all those crowded places over the weekends. i don't quite fancy crowded buzzing places, partly. but most importantly, my boyfriend and i prefer to stay-in, working on our own stuff at home. for this weekend, we were getting our hands busy for his school project. cutting up colored paper to form pieces of a demolished-looking 2050.
my side of my weekend, was turning my fingers quick and nimble with a paint brush and then turning it green by planting an adorable venus fly trap (seems like the package might be labeled wrongly). i finally decided to plant it after a long while. it should sprout some leaves in about 15days time. which is quite a while isn't it?
there's a peranakan exhibition taking place at The Baba House. sounds interesting. can't wait to pay the place a visit. the exhbition ends on the 10th, october. simply love peranakan crafts and tradition. so im looking forward to finding time to head down soon. till then! :)
ps. a new addition from my itchy fingers.
here.

i don't get to see this in singapore
a friend of mine posted this up on facebook. and i really admire the spirit of people in amsterdam, that everyone there. or practically everyone there owns a bike and rides a bike to everywhere there go. talk about eco-friendly. sometimes, if only our society were to be more accept-ive of such things, and if only our weather was a little friendlier to work with.

i've been a little caught up reading up on other people's secrets to happy marriages. and wonder how it must be like to be in their shoes, enjoying one another's company and help chase each other's dreams. but for now, one can only imagine.. and probably sit at a corner and look with envy. :)
"Grace + AC's secrets to a happy marriage:
1. Talk it out: No matter how angry you are, talking always helps. I wasn't a big talker before meeting Aaron (I was a big "slam the door"-er) and he taught me the value of talking through any and all difficult situations.
2. Support each other's dreams: AC loves to play poker and guitar, and he also likes mixed martial arts. If he wanted to leave his job to pursue any of those, I would support him 100%. And I know he'd do the same for me. I realized a few years back that no matter how good the salary or benefits, if your partner isn't happy, even the best job is the wrong job. If you're both truly happy, then material things really do become less important.
3. Go on adventures: Whether it's a scooter ride to Coney Island or a backpacking trip out west, remember to experience new things together. AC and I are complete opposites, but we both love to try new things, which keeps us growing together.
And above is a sneak peek from our wedding :)

day 2 of painting phrase
this is day 2 of my attempt at picking up my paint brush and trying to incooperate my own touch into it. so here's a sneak of it. :)

honestly, there's quite a bit of bucking up to do. abit of self-encouragement and a pat on my own back.

jessica's grandparents
as usual, im always "blog-stalking" my favorite lifestyle/ music/ design blogwriters, and stumbled across something rather sweet...

"According to my grandmother: "Have your own life. Pursue your dreams and let your husband do the same. Being content with yourself makes you a better wife."
do check out her entry for some really lovely vintage photos she posted. :)
this post also marks the first of september! how time flies. before i know it, it'll be december. so exciting and so rushy at the same time, as the year comes close to an end. :(
